I was on this website my friend showed me, where college students go to post (anonymously) about a certain person they saw around school that they like/find attractive. It was fascinating to read how detailed these kids are about someone they bumped into only once. 

for instance:

boy with black hair: We made eye contact as I walked up the stairs and you descended from them at the bookstore. You have gorgeous green eyes and I can’t stop thinking about you.

No joke, and it went the same for guys:

brunette girl: you sit in the third row in my econ class and you’re always eating. you’re so cute . i love that green sweater on you btw

I was especially astonished that the guys would write down detailed descriptions of the girl’s outfit (I also discovered that many guys have a thing for girls in yoga pants, but that’s beside the point..) I guess guys aren’t as different from us as I thought! 

It made me really happy to see that other people remember (and sometimes even dream about) perfect strangers just as i do (then again, i’m not sure what kind of people go on this site..) however, after a while of reading these (and not studying) I began to get very tired of seeing the same thing over and over:

you’re cute

I wish I had spoken to you!

I really like how studious you looked at the library! 

etc. etc.

The thing is, it’s all very superficial. How important is someone you’ve only seen once, or someone you don’t even know, for you to put in the effort to think about them all the time? There are so many “cute” people everywhere. Is it not a waste of time to fall head over heels for every single one we encounter? I do admit- I am guilty for doing this as well, but I want no more part in this. I don’t want to waste my time day dreaming about someone I don’t even know. If someone ever takes over my thoughts it will be someone I hang out with a lot and I will have fallen because of his personality. His looks will be secondary.
